Oku Ibom Ibibio Praises Emir of Kano’s Unity Drive, Calls Visit Symbolic and Memorable
The Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, CFR has extolled the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, CFR for promoting unity in Nigeria.

Ntenyin Etuk, said while receiving the Emir of Kano in his Palace at Ikot Ukobo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Wednesday, that the royal father’s three-day visit to Akwa Ibom State was heart-warming and very historic.
He called on other Emirs, Obas, Obis and other traditional rulers across the country to emulate such lofty gestures and launch out from their domains to other parts of the country in other to build bridges of unity, peace and progress.
“Today is a special day in the history of Akwa Ibom State. I don’t think we have had this over the years. Today is special because a very dear friend and brother decided to visit Akwa Ibom State and also come to my palace. We welcome him wholeheartedly.
“The Emir of Kano has started a good work. I pray other Emirs, Obas, Obis and other traditional rulers will take a cue from you in building bridges of unity and brotherhood across the country,” he said.

According to the Akwa Ibom premier royal father, “Words would be insufficient to describe how glad we are to have you in our midst. I do not know whether our grandfathers on both sides had such visits, as it is not in our records. But I want to say that this is the first time we have experienced this. Everything we do today will remain memorable in our hearts for the rest of our lives.”
He assured the Emir of Kano that he would surely reciprocate the gesture by visiting him and the Kano Emirate soon to consolidate the foundation of friendship and national unity established by both traditional institutions and the States of Kano and Akwa Ibom.
While welcoming him to Ikot Ukobo, his place of birth where his palace is located, Oku Ibom Ibibio appealed to the Emir to deepen his oversight on the interest and the welfare of Akwa Ibom indigenes in Kano, assuring that the same gesture will be extended to the Hausa Community in the State.

In his speech, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who was all smiles, reaffirmed his pledge to ensure that the two entities – Kano Emirate and Akwa Ibom traditional institution, collaborate to promote peaceful coexistence and fruitful cooperation on commerce.
He noted that his late father, Alhaji Ado Bayero, who ruled Kano Emirate for 51 years, had created contacts with the people of Akwa Ibom which made him interact and make friends with the indigenes right from his childhood days, adding that such relationship has shaped his attitude towards the people and the State.
The Emir commended Oku Ibom Ibibio for being a good friend, brother and worthy leader of the traditional institution in Akwa Ibom State and assured him of his continued cooperation.
