People-centric Governance: Uyo Media Group Backs Gov Eno, Hails SSG Uwah, Others for Driving Inclusive Leadership
Henshaw NYONG, Uyo
Media practitioners affiliated with the Uyo Media Group (UMG) have expressed their support for Governor Umo Eno’s administration, citing visible development strides, inclusive governance, and growing unity in the state capital as clear indicators of purposeful leadership.
The position of the group was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of its general meeting held on April 14, 2026, at Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, where members undertook a comprehensive review of governance and development across Uyo Local Government Area and the state. The communiqué was signed by the Chairman of the Communiqué Drafting Committee, Elder Chris Ikpoto; Secretary, Henshaw Nyong; member, Chief Imo Udoima; alongside the Chairman of the group, Elder Patrick Albert, and its Secretary, Patrick Titus.
The meeting, presided over by the Chairman, Elder Patrick Albert, had the Managing Director of Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Sir Charles Udoh, as Special Guest of Honour. The group noted that the people-centric approach of the present administration has translated into tangible benefits for residents, businesses and the broader economy of Uyo.

Central to the commendation was the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, whose leadership, the group said, has brought stability, coordination and renewed confidence in governance. The media body observed that his role as Political Leader of Uyo has fostered unity across the 14 wards and 4 clans, while strengthening alignment within the Uyo Federal Constituency.
UMG also applauded the Chairman of Uyo Local Government and ALGON Chairman in the state, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, for what it described as impactful grassroots governance. It was noted that his “service alone” mantra has been reflected in practical interventions, including the electrification of previously underserved communities, educational support schemes, entrepreneurial funding, and the delivery of compassionate homes across the 14 wards.

On legislative representation, the group expressed satisfaction with the performance of the member representing Uyo State Constituency, Hon Uwemedimo Asuquo, pointing to his constituency projects such as classroom construction, water provision, road grading, scholarship programmes and empowerment initiatives as evidence of responsive representation.

The Group commended the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Anieti Udofia, for effective leadership at the Ministry – making it a vibrant and result-driven institution and, of significant note, earning the COMMISSIONER OF THE YEAR 2025 recognition from the Governor for his stellar performance in the organisation of Christmas Unplugged 3.0 and contributing to the growing visibility of Akwa Ibom in the tourism sector.
It applauded the insightful performance of Sir Charles Udo, Managing Director of Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, whose leadership has driven ongoing renovations, rebranding and transformation of the facility into a competitive world-class hospitality destination, adding that such innovative managerial acumen, the group notes, is what the 5-star facility needs at this time.
The Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Rt Hon. (Sir) Anietie Eka, also received commendation for driving urban renewal initiatives. The remodelling of Ibom Plaza, the transformation of the Itam flyover and enforcement against street trading, the group said, have significantly improved the outlook and orderliness of the capital city.
Highlighting key government projects, UMG listed ongoing and completed interventions shaping daily life in Uyo. These include road reconstruction across the four clans, ARISE Model Schools in Uyo Village and Ewet Offot, provision of modern primary healthcare centres and the transformation of the ARISE Palm Resort into a major economic hub.
Further projects identified were the Ring Road III dual carriageway and the near completion of the Ibom International Convention Centre and Ibom Hotel, as well as the upgrade of IbomLED into a functional skills acquisition centre for youth empowerment.
The group also referenced the establishment of a CNG bus terminal at Obio Offot and Ikot Akpe, expansion of housing through Ewet Luxury Estate and other developments, alongside the delivery of ARISE Compassionate Homes, noting that these interventions are directly improving livelihoods and stimulating economic activities.
On the strength of these developments and the inclusion of Uyo indigenes in key positions, the Uyo Media Group expressed confidence in the capacity of Governor Umo Eno to sustain development across the state. It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies and programmes that advance the growth of Uyo and Akwa Ibom in general.
