A coordinated intelligence-led operation by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has led to the arrest of four suspected criminals and recovery of a locally fabricated firearm, suspected hard drugs, charms and other incriminating exhibits.
Information made available to Crystal Express Newspaper, said Police Operatives carried out the task in furtherance of the operational directives of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, “to identify and dismantle criminal hideouts, eliminate black spots and deny criminal elements any foothold within the State.”
DSP Timfon John, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in a press release on behalf of the Commissioner of Police on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, said the Operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a suspected criminal hideout located at Mbiabong Ikot Essien, off Oron Road, Uyo Local Government Area on July 26, 2026, at about 1930hrs.
During the swoop on the compound, reportedly owned by one Imo (surname yet unknown), saw several suspects taking to their heels on sighting the police team.
However, it was learnt that four suspects were apprehended during the operation. They are Idonrenyen Bassey, Male, 18 years; Emmanuel Rafael, Male, 15 years; Messiah Vincent, Male, 21 years; and Goodnews Ubong Bassey, Male, 16 years.

The PPRO said a thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of the following exhibits:
One locally fabricated pistol; Quantities of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa (Indian hemp); Charms of various kinds; Plumbing materials suspected to be stolen; and several packaged clothing items reasonably suspected to be proceeds of theft.
The State Commissioner has assured law-abiding residents that the Command remains resolute in its mandate to safeguard lives and property and will continue to sustain aggressive operations against cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, burglary, drug-related crimes and all forms of criminality across the State.
He encouraged members of the public to remain security conscious and continue to partner with the Police by providing timely and credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to keep Akwa Ibom State safe and secure.
