Seplat Energy: Governor Eno Seeks Improved People-oriented Services

...Pledges Support For Operations

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has assured that the State will support the Seplat Energy Group in its vision and strategy to “remain Nigeria’s leading independent energy provider.”

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Uyo, by the Board and Management of Seplat Group, following its successful acquisition of Mobile Producing Nigeria Unlimited (“MPNU”), he said the government under his leadership, is people-oriented and will support initiatives that will benefit the people of the State.

He said the State has the enabling environment as well as good accommodations of international standards, such as the Udom Emmanuel Towers, and called on the oil company to consider acquiring spaces there to enhance its operations.

The Governor said the State has an employment portal which contains details of unemployed youths and urged Seplat executives to visit the site and harvest the needed manpower whenever the need arises.

While recollecting some of his experiences with ExxonMobil, he expressed optimism that, given the calibre of men in the management of Seplat Energy led by Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, the company will soar.

He appreciated the team for the visit and promised the necessary support to engender success.

Earlier, the Board Chairman of Seplat Energy Group, Senator Udoma said the visit was to formally inform the Governor that Seplat Energy Plc has acquired the entire share capital of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) from Exxon Mobil Corporation, Delaware (“ExxonMobil”).

He noted that Seplat Energy is aware that MPNU operations have significant activities in Akwa Ibom State, hence the visit to officially inform the Governor of the development and to seek support and cooperation in ensuring a seamless transition from ExxonMobil to Seplat Energy Plc.

The Board Chairman said the SEPNU operations will be focused on ensuring safe operations, reopening shut-in wells, increasing production, embarking on an extensive drilling campaign, and unlocking the enormous gas reserves in these fields.

He also said that SEPNU will seek to build a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with the Akwa Ibom State Government and the communities within which they operate, as well as other stakeholders.

Other members of the team included; CEO, of Seplat Energy, Roger Brown; Managing Director, of SEPNU, Mr Oladotun Isiaka; Director, of External Affairs; Mrs Chioma Afe, GM, of Corporate Services Mrs Emo Udobong-Ntia, GM, Public and Government Affairs, Mr. Oge Udeagha, and Government Relations Lead QIT, Mr. Esumo Effiong.

On the Governor’s team were the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor to the Governor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson; and the immediate past Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom, SAN and others.
