AKHA Tasks Water Board On Project Execution
The Chairman, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Rural Development and Public Utility, Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh, has advised members of the Akwa Ibom State Water Board to work satisfactorily through unity of purpose.
The committee chairman gave the advice while carrying out investigations into the reasons for the delay by the agency to deliver on water projects handled in Urban and Rural communities in Akwa Ibom State.
The project is said to have kick-started December, 2017 in Obot Akara Local Government Area sponsored by the state government in collaboration with the Federal Government and the European Union but was turnout to be funded by the European Union.
The chairman particularly charged the State Director of the Project, Mr. Akaninyene Iso to utilize persons appointed to work with him for the success of the agency.
Hon. Akpanusoh after listening to views summited by the personnel, said that the involved directors in project execution will have bring in expatriates to inspect and decide on the necessary equipment to be used, while lamented that the problem is as a result of non-managerial coordination.
He also said that project contractors should operate within the given terms of their contracts, stressing that the European Union expert would have given the state quality service and bridge every gap that may have occurred in the course of executing the contract.
In his speech, the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Water Board, Hon. Uwem Ita Etuk thanked the committee for trying to resolve issues concerning the water projects and disclosed that N220 million was provided by the state government for the Water projects to be executed and that counterpart funding were also made.
Earlier, Mr. Akaninyene Iso, who is the state director of project said he was not satisfied with level of the execution of projects and that all documents are intact and signatories to all form of transactions on the said projects were effectively carried out.
But many that testified, said they were not carried along in the process of project execution and are not satisfied with the level of work done.
