COVID 19: Industrialist Supports NPF with 1,000 Nose masks

In a bid to support and encourage men of the Nigeria Police Force to stay safe while enforcing the lockdown order during the ravaging coronavirus in the State, an industrialist, Prince Mendy Archibong has donated 1,000 nose masks to the Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command.

 

 

The donation was made yesterday, Friday at the Police State Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia.

 

 

Presenting the items to the Police Public Relations Officer in Akwa Ibom State, Fredrick Nnudam, the donor, the Managing Director of Good Time Paints and Allied Industries Limited, Prince Mendy Archibong, said he was moved to carry out the gesture owing to the news report he read from The Dune Newspaper which reported that The Nigeria Police Force do not have supplementary budget to get supplies of nose masks among other protective equipments hence rely on support from members of the public to provide their men with protective items.

Represented by Abasifreke Effiong, Prince Archibong noted that the role men of the Nigeria Police Force among other security agencies play in the enforcement of the lockdown places them in a position of vulnerability.

 

 

He said in a bid to contribute towards flattening the curve of COVID-19, it is imperative to support those whose nature of job makes them more vulnerable to the virus.

 

 

Prince Archibong said the choice of donating locally made nose mask stems from reports and controversies surrounding the one imported from China.

 

 

While praying for the battle against COVID-19 to be won soonest, the Industrialist urged men of the police force to contribute their quota by adhering to safety precautions towards ending the spread of the virus.

 

 

Receiving the donation, the Police Public Relations Officer, in Akwa Ibom State, Fredrick Nnudam thanked the Managing Director of Good Time Paints and Allied Industries Limited, Prince Mendy Archibong for his public spirit towards stemming the spread of novel Coronavirus in the State.

 

 

The PPRO applauded the gesture, hinted that the donation will be communicated to the Commissioner of Police and pledged that the nose mask would be appropriately distributed to policemen who are on the duty to enforce lockdown.

He added ” We deeply appreciate you for deeming it necessary especially at this critical time of the nation to support the Nigeria Police. This shows clearly that you appreciate the essential service the police renders during this critical period.
We pray the resources you use for this gesture be replenished”.

 

 

Archibong, who is a Port Harcourt based industrialist, an indigene of Ikpe Mbak Eyop in Obot Akara local government area, is renowned for being at the vanguard of supporting the Akwa Ibom state government’s effort to containing COVID-19 in the state.

 

 

He had earlier donated hand sanitizers and disinfectants and had sponsored community health specialists to sensitize students and teachers in rural schools in the state on COVID-19 and standard hygiene.

 

 

Archibong had equally donated food items to widows in Obot Akara local government to support the state government palliative.
