As the clock ticks closer to the end of his tenure as Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has appointed two new Permanent Secretaries to the state Civil Service.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Mrs Imaobong Sylvester Okon and Surveyor Emem Isang.
Until their appointments, Mrs Imaobong Okon served as the Governor’s confidential secretary while Emem Isang served as the State’s Surveyor General.
Swearing in the permanent secretaries on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo shortly before the valedictory Executive Council session, Governor Emmanuel described their appointment as a reward for hard work and consistency, attesting that the duo have worked with him and have shown capacity in their assigned duties over the years.
The Governor congratulated the new appointees and used the occasion to express appreciation for serving Permanent Secretaries in the state, urging them to keep up the good work as well as accord the incoming Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, the needed support to enable him to excel in the best interest of the state.

“We don’t have any other state except Akwa Ibom. Whatever you are given to do, do it to your very best knowing that God will ask you to account for these years of service.
“I want to thank all the Permanent Secretaries. You people are permanent, please the same support you gave to me give it to Pastor Umo Eno”, he advised.
Governor Emmanuel reiterated the value of service, saying that hard work is the surest way to the top and admonished superior officers not to foreclose the system against subordinates.
This, he explained would allow the subordinates to learn on the job and contribute ideas where necessary rather than exhibit a monopoly of knowledge.
