Two suspects are now cooling their heels in police custody for alleged involvement in a gruesome murder in Akwa Ibom State.
Akwa Ibom State Police Command announced this through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfom John, in a press release issued in Uyo on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested suspects in connection with a gruesome killing within the State.
DSP John, in the statement, said: “Operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly mobilised to the scene where the victim was found burnt beyond recognition inside a room, under circumstances strongly suggesting a deliberate and violent act.”
According to her, the area was immediately cordoned off, and a full-scale investigation was launched into the incident at Iko Udo Obobo Village in Ukanafun Local Government Area, where the victim, one Okon, male, aged 27, was reportedly burnt in his room.

The PPRO said after sustained intelligence-led operations and meticulous investigations, two suspects were arrested in connection with the heinous crime.
The suspected culprits are one Idem Etim (male) and Namkere Ikoboatang (female) and are currently in custody, providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ensure that all persons involved in the barbaric act are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice without delay.
The Command described the act as a clear case of culpable homicide and stated that it will be pursued with the full weight of the law.
The Police warned all criminal elements that Akwa Ibom State is not a haven for violent offenders.
“The Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property and will continue to act decisively against all forms of criminality.
“Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station,” she added.
