As football fans across Nigeria continue to wait for the official commencement of the 2019/2020 NPFL season, teams have been engaging in tune up matches to sharpen their skills, tactics and techniques in readiness for the upcoming football season.
In the wake of this, the Akwa Ibom State representatives in Nigeria Professional Football League and former Nigerian Aiteo Cup Champions, Akwa United FC of Uyo have been busy lately with friendly matches with several Club sides around the nation with a view to preparing well for the forthcoming football season. According to reports emanating from the camp of the Uyo based team, the Promise Keepers were recently beaten two nil by Rangers International of Enugu at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Stadium, Enugu.
Team news concerning Akwa United FC, also disclosed that, the new Technical Adviser of the Uyo based football outfit and former National U-17 and U-20 Coach, Mr. John Obuh is running the rules on both old and new players with the hope of knocking the team into a very formidable and exciting football playing side.
However, in another twist of event, Akwa United FC bounced back in their match against a less fancied and non elite Division football league side, Inter FC of Enugu where they trounced them by two goals to one after going behind early in the game to the home side. Thanks to the swift reaction by Ocheme Edoh who equalized for Akwa United with a beautiful effort before completing his good day in the office with the match winner in the 43rd minutes.
