Champion Breweries Plc has reiterated its determination to invest in the future of Akwa Ibom youths by training and equipping them to excel in their different fields of endeavour.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Breweries, Dr. Inalegwu Adoga, who made the remarks during the presentation of certificates to the industrial training fund and graduate trainees held at the company’s premises on Wednesday, maintained that Champion Breweries’ commitment to corporate social responsibility goes beyond mere words.
According to him, “Today marks a significant milestone not only for Champion Breweries Plc. but also for the communities we serve and the future of Akwa Ibom State.
He averred, “At Champion Breweries, we strongly believe in the transformative power of education and the pivotal role it plays in shaping the decisions of individuals and communities alike. Our commitment to corporate social responsibility goes beyond mere words; it is deeply ingrained in our ethos, guiding our actions and initiatives towards creating sustainable impact and fostering inclusive growth.”
Dr. Adoga highlighted, “In 2023, we embarked on a noble endeavour to invest in the human capital of Akwa Ibom State by selecting graduates from across all three (3) senatorial districts and providing them with a unique opportunity for professional development.

He added, “Recognising the importance of a robust supply chain in the success of our operations, we partnered with the Nigerian Breweries Supply Chain Academy to equip these talented individuals with the requisite knowledge and skills to excel in this field.”
“Similarly, we selected candidates across our host and neighbouring communities and partnered with the Industrial Training Fund on skill acquisition programmes for your youths.
As we gather to present certificates to these graduates, I am filled with immense pride and satisfaction, knowing that we have played a part, however small, in shaping their futures and empowering them to become agents of positive change in their communities.”
He congratulates the graduates on their momentous achievement, stressing that their dedication, perseverance, and passion have been truly commendable.
“I do not doubt that you will continue to strive for excellence in all your future endeavours. As you step out into the world armed with new knowledge and skills, remember that you carry not only the hopes and aspirations of your families but also the legacy of Champion Breweries Plc,” he intoned.
The managing director promised to absorb most of the graduate trainees into the existing vacancies in the company, adding that the beneficiaries of the training were roundly selected without bias or favour.
Also speaking at the event, the board chairman of Champion Breweries Plc, Mr. Imo Abasi Jacob, described the event as part of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.
He maintained that the outcome of the training was a product of synergy between the champion and the ITF.
According to him, “What we see today is an investment in the future of these youths; we are teaching them how to fish rather than giving them fish. This is the best way to pursue corporate social responsibility, and we are taking measured steps to ensure that it gets better and wider every year. Today, we have gone beyond the host communities to expand into the three (3) senatorial districts of the state.
“The beneficiaries here were chosen from all academic disciplines, and they have proved through their graduation today that the selection process was impeccable.
Also speaking, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Dr. John Etim, commended Champion Breweries Plc. for its commitment and consistency towards corporate social responsibility.
The commissioner described the training and empowerment of youths by the breweries as part of the Arise Agenda blueprint of the state government and urged the benefiting youths to take full advantage of their training and advance their dreams and career paths.
On their own, two of the beneficiaries, Mr. Victor Ekpo and Mrs. Lydia Godwin Akpan, expressed deep-seated gratitude to Champion Breweries Plc. for their magnanimity, stressing that the training was a lifelong opportunity to become self-sustainable and also add value to their families and society.
They also hailed the company for taking good care of them throughout the training. “We were given all the necessary support; we lacked nothing,” they quipped.
On the occasion witnessed by parents, friends and relatives of the trainees, certificates were given to the graduate trainees, while equipment such as deep freezers, sewing machines and other items were given to those who were trained in different special skills.
