Learning To Honour Retired Staff

No one can work forever but must retire if they do not die in service. Therefore when a staff retires honorable at the due time, it is fitting for the management to accord them a befitting send-off.

But unfortunately, the culture of according send-off to retiring staff has been lost.

I noticed that so many staff are retiring these days without being noticed. Not even a simple thing as saying goodbye is said to them, not to talk of holding a send-off party.

We must learn to treat retiring staff with utmost respect and appreciation of their contributions to service.

We must show them that their labour was not in vain.

Therefore, the labour unions should take the lead, as a matter of fact, to get government offices to hold send-off for retiring staff.
