We in Eket are very sad and disturbed that the State government just decided to wake one day and issue a curfew on the use of motorcycles from 6pm to 6am without providing alternative means of transportation. The government should have understood that majority of the population are those who do not have vehicles and as such rely on motorcycles.
It would have been expected of them to make provision for tricycles or taxis before the ban to smoothen movement of her citizenry. We all trek long distances from 6pm. This is not fair to the poor. When the gradual ban on motorcycles happened in Uyo, government made provision for taxis. Why is Eket different? We are suffering here and we expect urgent attention soon.
